This year
we had eleven participants. They ranged in age from eleven to sixteen.
We had two adult assistants that added tremendously to the program.
Over the six days, they completed two short movies and a music video.
We started
the week with a short teaching session and then went straight into movie
making. The first day they scripted the two shorts and started shooting
the documentary. Monday and Tuesday, we shot the first short, "The
Sidekick". Its a reality show gone wild. The kids did
the brunt of the work, while Zoe ran camera. On Wednesday, we began
editing it. Thursday, was another shooting day with the students
taking over the entire shoot. They shot a music video for a local
artist Robbie Reider. Friday and Saturday were editing days, with
a screening of the almost completed projects immediately following.
The YSMP's
completed movies were shown during the Buckeye Block on Sunday, September
25th at the Frankly Film Fest.
